Mark A. Whitelaw, CMI, joined AVTI’s Eastern Region Office in 1996. He provides client support through development and application of income approach models for a variety of commercial industries. Additional client responsibilities include field inspections, valuation analysis, negotiation and testimony before assessment appeals boards and database management. He also provides compliance and computerization support, report development and analysis of fixed asset reports for the completion of personal property tax returns. In the last two years Mr. Whitelaw has specialized in the asset classification and cost segregation of complex industrial properties. Mr. Whitelaw’s development and implementation of coding systems into fixed asset ledgers has streamlined compliance and assisted many clients with the identification and classification of real, personality and ghost assets, along with separating those assets with varying lives. Mr. Whitelaw was also instrumental in the development of AVTI’s Valuation Database System used in a large valuation assignment dealing with California’s Proposition 13 re-appraisals for a number of gasoline service stations.

Mr. Whitelaw graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kent State University in 1996, earning his BBA in Finance. He holds a CMI designation through the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). He also continues his education in both real estate and personal property tax matters through courses offered by the IPT and the Appraisal Institute.
