John P. Vanderah, CMI, is a Vice President and directs the activities of the Central Region in Chicago, Illinois. He joined AVTI in 1987 and established a strong client audit support and compliance coordination program while in the Western Region office. Mr. Vanderah has extensive experience in dealing with a multitude of personal property issues with specific emphasis on California and the restatement of assets as a result of buyouts and mergers. Additionally, he has extensive background in representing clients’ ad valorem and property tax assessment issues before local property tax assessors and assessment appeal boards.
In 1997 Mr. Vanderah relocated to Chicago to assume the management of the Central Region operations. Since relocating, he has been involved heavily with clients in property tax planning, compliance, valuation and litigation issues for numerous commercial, industrial and retail facilities throughout the United States. Prior to joining AVTI he was with the MAI firm of Shenehon-Goodlund-Taylor, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mr. Vanderah is a Certified Member (CMI) of the IPT, a State Certified General Appraiser in Colorado as well as a licensed Senior Property Tax Consultant in the State of Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the College of St, Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota with a double major in Economics and Business Administration. He has maintained memberships in several professional appraisal and assessment organizations where he regularly attends seminars and courses. Mr. Vanderah has been a speaker on personal property issues at various conferences and symposiums sponsored by the IPT. |
